I am so excited to show you how I make money selling on Etsy! I am currently making thousands every month selling digital templates. I’m not talking about a little side income. I’m making over 6 Figures! This does not require a special talent when you use an easy platform like Canva to design your templates! Anyone can do it. And if you have a passion for creativity, it just makes it that much more fun.

You might already have an Etsy shop and are looking for a way to boost your sales, or you might be thinking of opening one for the first time. In either case, I encourage you to do it! It’s easy. Etsy is a perfect marketplace for starting a business. Here are a few reasons why:

Etsy has more than 90 million active buyers.

Etsy is a Trusted and Established Platform.

Low Risk! You can start a business with hardly any money on Etsy.

An Etsy Shop is easy to set up and maintain.

Etsy has a supportive and welcoming community. Great for finding resources, answers, and camaraderie.

Etsy is a great marketplace for selling vintage items, handmade items, or digital items. Even though I am talking about selling digital templates, you can still learn tons of stuff here for any item you would like to sell. I learned most of my secrets from selling wooden home décor. Whatever your passion is, you have great potential on Etsy!!

If you aren’t familiar with Etsy or Canva, don’t worry. I will help you learn how. Let’s start with the basics.

Here’s the steps to get started:

Create an Etsy Account

First things first. Create your Etsy account if you don’t already have one. It’s free! You will need an email address and then select a password to log in to your account. This will only take a few minutes. Go to: Etsy.com and follow the instructions to set up an account. This account will allow you to purchase items from other sellers and create your own store as well!

Open an Etsy Shop

After opening your Etsy account, click the icon to Sell on Etsy or type Etsy.com/sell into your browser. Select ‘Get Started’ and then the fun starts. Now you get to name your shop! Be creative. You can change the name later if you decide so don’t stress out about this step, but try to think of a name that fits what you think you will be selling.

Next, you’ll need to follow the steps to open your shop. This is pretty straight forward. You just need to enter your personal information, bank information, etc… You’ll need a bank account ready that Etsy will deposit your payments into. You’ll also need a credit card for fees. As long as you are making sales, you won’t have to worry about your credit card being charged since it will come off the balance of your sale, and then the rest will be deposited into your account.

If you’ve had an Etsy store before and it was permanently suspended, don’t worry. This was really stressful for me when I lost my first Etsy store. I knew there was passive money to be made. I knew how to do it, yet Etsy had cancelled me. Etsy tells you that if this happens you can never sell on Etsy again. Well, I found out this is wrong. I found out how to do it. Choose a Niche

Some people think Etsy is too saturated to be successful, but that’s not true. I was able to get into a saturated niche and make money right away. It also helps to have your own creative flare that will make your item stand apart from the rest. View the competition on Etsy and think of ways you could make your item even better.

When viewing all the options currently on Etsy, you may be tempted to sell a little of everything, but this is not the wisest move. Selecting a specific niche will help your target audience find items in your shop that they like. This helps to create your brand. Also, it is very important to pick something you’re interested in. If you’re excited about your product, it will show in your designs. In the long run, you will be more successful, and you’ll have much more fun doing it.

If you’re not even sure where to start, head over to Pinterest to see what is currently trending. That might spark some ideas. I’ll tell you about some of my best-selling items here. No matter how much competition is in your desired niche, it’s very possible to rise above the competition, and I will show you how!

Design Templates on Canva

Create a free account with Canva. Head over to Canva.com and you’ll find this is very easy. You can upgrade to the Pro version if you choose, but for starters, the free version works just fine! It even includes millions of free elements to help you create amazing templates.

You’ll need to select a size to begin your design, add text, images, or elements as desired. For a more detailed tutorial of Canva, click here. This will show you how easy it is to design your first template. When you’re done with your design, make sure you copy the template link so you can share this with your customers. I recommend copying and pasting each link into a PDF file so customers can download it instantly after purchase. They will be able to click the link and go directly to the Canva template. They will be able to highlight the words (name, dates, other info, etc…) and then download right to their computer. It’s super easy for them and easy for you!

List Digital Templates in your Shop

Once your Canva templates are ready, it’s time to list them on your Etsy shop. When adding a listing, you’ll need to provide a clear, descriptive title that is keyword optimized. Also, provide a detailed description so customers know they are purchasing a digital item instead of a physical item. Insert high-quality images for your listing photos. This is important since this will be what will initially draw your customer’s attention to your item. Finally, don’t forget to add keywords so your item will get found. I am so excited for you to try this out. This is a life-changer! Sell a few templates every month and you get a little extra spending cash! Sell a bunch, and you’ll find that it can open up a world of possibilities for you! Feel free to join my mailing list so you don’t miss out on other money-making opportunities!
